The U.S. National Arboretum is one of my favorite local nature spots; ironically, not easy to get to if you don't have a car. The Arboretum is definitely one of this city's best kept "secrets."
Just about every flower, shrub, and tree in the Arboretum usually has a label nearby denoting the particular species and popular name. However, I failed to notice the one near this giant purple dandelion looking thing. Anyone have any idea what it is?
For now I'm calling it "Giant Purple Dandelion Thing."
Lunch recommendations: Groucho's Deli and Sticky Fingers. Both happen to be chains, but what the hell -- food was good (ribs at Sticky Fingers were awesome).
